Horeca

You want to fill your bar or restaurant on a Thursday evening, or bring a hen party, a company outing or a group of tourists past five venues in one night. Walking each group yourself is not an option when you are also behind the bar. A GPS trail does the walking part: groups get directions to the next stop, a task to complete when they arrive, and a reason to move on after 20 to 30 minutes so the next group can sit down. You decide the stops, the order and the timing; the guests do the rest on their own phone.

How it gets used

Pub crawl for bachelor and hen parties

A group of 10 to 15 starts at your bar at 19:00, gets a task at each of four other bars and finishes back at yours at 22:30 for the last round. Each stop has a challenge tied to the venue, so the group actually goes inside instead of drinking on the street.

Culinary route between restaurants

Five restaurants each serve one small course; guests walk between them with a 10-minute gap and answer a question about the dish or the building. With 40 guests split into eight tables of five and staggered 15 minutes apart, each kitchen sends out one table at a time.

Company outing that ends at your place

Offices book a Friday afternoon out from 16:00 to 19:00 for 20 to 30 colleagues. The trail runs through the neighbourhood with a drink at two partner cafés and finishes with dinner at your restaurant, where you already know the exact arrival time.

Quiet-evening filler with neighbouring venues

Three or four bars on the same street set up a standing route that runs every Tuesday and Wednesday. A flyer with a QR code at each bar starts the trail, and guests move from one to the next for a stamp or a discount on the second drink.

Practical tips

Put the shortest walk between the last two stops. After three bars, a 15-minute walk to the finish loses people.
Give the trail a hard end time and a finish location. Groups that know they need to be at bar five by 22:30 pace themselves; groups without a deadline stay at bar two.
Brief every bartender on the route with a one-page sheet: what the task at their venue is, what the answer is, and what the voucher covers. Most questions on the night go to the bar staff, not to you.
Test-walk the route once on the actual evening and day of the week you plan to run it. A stop that is quiet on a Tuesday afternoon can have a 20-minute queue on a Saturday at 21:00.

Frequently asked questions

No. Guests open a link or scan a QR code at the first stop and the trail runs in their phone browser. One phone per group is enough, so a table of six only needs one person to hold it.

Give each group a different starting point or a different order of stops. With five venues and five groups starting 15 minutes apart, each bar gets one group every 15 minutes instead of thirty people at the door at 20:00.

Yes, each stop is tied to GPS coordinates. The question or task for your bar only appears once the group is within a set radius, so nobody skips the stop and still gets the points.

Short ones. A photo with the bartender, guessing the year the building was built, or naming the ingredient in the amuse works well. Anything longer than two or three minutes holds up the table and the group behind them.

Most organisers sell a wristband or voucher card at the start that covers one drink or one dish per stop. Bars scan or tear a stub, and settle up between venues afterwards. The trail itself does not handle payment, so you keep your own till setup.

Yes. Once the stops and tasks are set, you copy the trail and change the date, the start time or one or two venues. A route built for a Friday pub crawl in March can be reused for a bachelor party in June with 20 minutes of editing.
